HubSpot ad breakdown: what one LinkedIn ad gets right

Three question marks, a feeling in the first line and no lesson anywhere on the card. What we would steal from a HubSpot webinar ad, and what we would fix.

Lead with a pain your buyer already feels

HubSpot's ad asks if your CRM is slowing you down. A CRM company asking that is a gym asking if you've been meaning to get in shape.

Three question marks

We found it in LinkedIn's Ad Library and counted the question marks. Three. One in the caption, one in the headline, one in the little bar at the bottom. Three ways of asking whether your CRM has become the problem, just in case the first one didn't land.

The caption opens with a feeling

"Your CRM worked when things were simpler." Anyone who has outgrown a tool nods at that line. Nobody nods at "all-in-one customer platform".

The image does the boring, important work

LIVE WEBINAR sits in a pill at the top, with the date in IST and SGT underneath. In two seconds you know what it is, when it is and roughly who it's for. Then the puzzle pieces say "your data doesn't fit together" without spending a single word.

The ad teaches nothing

Not one tip. It's an invitation to learn, with the lesson saved for the webinar, and that only works if people have a reason to turn up. We couldn't find a speaker, an agenda or a takeaway anywhere on the card. Just the promise that scaling companies are making the switch.

What the rest of us take from it

Put the format and the time zone where nobody has to hunt for them. And give one real taste of the lesson in the ad itself, because "come learn why" is a weaker invite than "here's one thing, come get the rest".
